SKINDRED challenge ZEROSCAPE to a clash!
"As Skindred set out on their Shark Bites and Dog Fights tour, George has a chance to catch up with their enigmatic frontman, Mr. Benji Webbe. George is surprised to find he’s talking to the only Welsh member of the band, who himself has flown over from home in Florida. Talk about long distance relationships. They discuss the new album*, the apparent ‘kings of ragga-metal’, and Benji reveals the band are off to India.
George: Have you ever heard of a band from Canada called Zeroscape? They claim to be the ‘undisputed kings of ragga-metal’.
Benji: I suppose they are, I hope they are, they can have it if they want. You want that title, take it you daft cunts. [laughs] Fucking hell!
George: They were opening for InMe on their tour they’re doing at the moment.
Benji: In England?
George: Yeah.
Benji: Excellent. Well, I won’t be going to see ‘em, but they are the undisputed kings of ragga-metal, I don’t want the fucking crown, I just wanna be the underdog and smack fucking ace faces, keep your crown. What’re they called?
George: Zeroscape!
Benji: Zeroscape, I’m gonna look out for them, not to like, do anything more than go, “Rock on, kings!” [laughs] We never said we were the best, or the greatest, or anything like that, so if a magazine says you’re good, I’m not gonna say, “No, we’re not”, if they can claim to be the undisputed kings, they can challenge us to a clash, bring it on. So, you tell them that when you see them."

ZEROSCAPE LIVE - Reviews from the UK!
ZEROSCAPE - Relentless Garage, London
"Thursday night at the Relentless Garage in Highbury and three bands on the bill. The venue is perfect for this kind of gig; wherever you stand you’ve got a pretty good view of the stage and the live sound is spot-on.
First band on are Zeroscape who appear to have invented the new genre of Canadian reggae metal. They hit the stage like a whirlwind and don’t ease up until the end of the set. An opening set when the audience are fanatical about the headliners can be incredibly difficult, but Zeroscape win them over by being incredibly energetic and incredibly good. Their version of the Bob Marley classic “Get Up, Stand Up” has to be heard to be believed. A great set which looks difficult to follow.
Second on the bill are Symphony Cult, who are a bit of a puzzle. Their intro music is too long and overblown, which isn’t a good omen for the set. Sound problems through the first 2 songs mean that the lead vocal is lost,... They don’t win the audience over in the same way as Zeroscape because they don’t adopt the same all-out approach to the gig...there’s definitely something missing.
Which brings us to INME, who are touring to promote their fourth album “Herald Moth”. The band take the stage to a rapturous welcome from a very partisan crowd. A couple of songs into the set, it feels like the arrangements are a bit stretched and that frontman Dave McPherson is trying a little bit too hard both instrumentally and vocally, which is explained later when he tells the audience about the road accident a few weeks ago which resulted in lead guitarist Ben Konstantinovic being unable to play. The INME fans don’t seem to be too bothered about by this, but it does leave a big hole in the overall sound.
It’s obvious that Dave McPherson loves what he does (and the fans love him), but the loss of the second guitar does leave a hole in the sound which the remaining three musicians struggle to fill. Overall, a pretty good rock night with two good bands (go and see Zeroscape if you get a chance)..."

ZEROSCAPE - Rescue Rooms, Nottingham
"That this tour is happening at all seems remarkable enough. The day it was due to start - in Derby - InMe were involved in a serious car accident that resulted in guitarist Ben Konstantinovic breaking his wrist, not to mention seeing his car destroyed. Having originally formed as a three-piece, and therefore with experience of playing without a second guitarist, InMe's walking wounded have admirably decided to plough on regardless.
Openers Zeroscape are a welcome shock, a Canadian version of Skindred that zip from reggae to thrash and back again in the shake of a dreadlock. In fact, they're so sharp that they make Symphony Cult look a little dull.."

ZEROSCAPE - O2 Academy 2, Newcastle
"Unfortunate circumstances have made Newcastle the first outing for Essex rockers InMe since the release of new record Herald Moth – injuries to new member Ben Konstantinovic mean the band go old school tonight, acting as a three-piece once again. With drummer Simon Taylor shrugging off a chest injury and as frontman Dave McPherson puts it, “doped up on so many painkillers, he doesn’t know who he is”, the band look to be putting themselves back on the map tonight, setbacks or not.
Making their way on stage to possibly the most ridiculous entrance ever, Canadian quartet Zeroscape rid themselves of tops, don capes, and take stance as a cheesy-yet-brilliant Lets Get Ready To Rumble announcement beckons them into their first song; coincidentally, a track in which the main riff is near identical to that of Survivor’s Eye Of The Tiger.
Maybe Zeroscape made a mistake of proclaiming themselves the “undisputed kings of ragga-metal”, taking into account they’re on Skindred territory, but they certainly match up well. They blast out all manner of different scales, ranging from some extremely heavy breakdowns and some vicious screaming, to the contrast of some great, laid back reggae songs, sang brilliantly by frontman Binski.
Each song thankfully, goes over brilliantly with said audience, the likes of single Friday Night gaining new fans in amongst the people staring back. With that, a rapturous applause breaks out, and Zeroscape have certainly made a lasting impression, even if they quite didn’t cement their proclamation tonight."

ZEROSCAPE - Asylum, Birmingham
"Entering onto the stage to an intro tape akin to the start of a prize fight, Canadian ‘Reggae Metallers’ Zeroscape helped to raise the atmosphere in the venue further, following the great opening set from Pegasus Bridge. Of course it didn’t hurt that Binski (vocals) proclaimed his love for Birmingham (and Scruffy Murphys) on a number of occasions throughout the set.
I have to be honest and admit that I have no idea what songs were played (apart from ‘Friday Night’), but I did thoroughly enjoy the bands performance and, just like Pegasus Bridge, I will definitely look to catch Zeroscape live again in the future. Fine fellas and a fine band. Catch 'em in Derby on the 6th Oct (again with InMe).
Unfortunately, Symphony Cult just couldn’t keep up the momentum built by the two previous bands and I’m afraid they won’t live too long in my memory. The set didn’t start too well when the band members stood on stage with their backs to the audience whilst their intro tape.. "

ZEROSCAPE - Talking Heads, Southampton
"Tonight sees the Talking Heads in Southampton play host to rock band Inme who are out on tour promoting their latest album "Herald Moth" which shows a whole new side to the band talents, the band recorded the album as a four piece, however just before the tour started drummer Simon and new guitarist Ben were involved in a car accident, Simon escaped virtually unscathed, Ben seriously broke his arm which ruled him out of the band for at least the rest of the year, Inme decided to soldier on with the tour adapting to their original 3 piece.
Zeroscape from Toronto, Canada arrived onstage with lead singer "Binski" draped with a Canadian flag looking like he was a boxer ready to get in the ring, with the rest of the band also stripped to their waists ready for action they start their "reggae metal" style of music a fusion of metal with reggae and ska. Guitarist "Speshalitz" was sporting some evil looking face paint and a huge afro wig which covered most of his face, how he was able to see to play his guitar I will never know. The sound is powerful and the audience really does not know what has hit them, "Binski" tirelessly works the crowd whipping them up and urging audience participation this soon pays off with the audience singing along to a metal version of the Bob Marley classic "Get Up Stand Up". The band end their fast paced set with a track called "Friday Night" from their lastest EP which goes down really well and the band gets a large amount of appreciation as they leave the stage.
The 2nd support act is London band Symphony Cult a 5 piece metal band fronted by lead singer Charlotte Lubbock who arrives on stage takes the microphone and says "Hello Northampton" the shocked crowd were stunned to silence with a short gap with then a few sniggers at this hilarious moment, Charlotte did not realize her error and said it again, one of the other members of the band whispered in her ear they were actually in Southampton a "Spinal Tap" moment if ever there was one, not the best start to their.."

ZEROSCAPE - The Royal, Derby
"Tonight’s bill is opened by canadian 4 piece Reggae/Metal ZEROSCAPE. Surprisingly at first, it doesn’t take a song for the already numerous crowd to tighten around the stage and allow themselves to be convinced.
ZEROSCAPE might seem to step on Skindred’s toes in the UK, but on the other continent it would no doubt be the other way around. They manage to alternate between metal and reggae with an impressive ability and have got their very own style. They later will successfully sell their E.P within the crowd who couldn’t help being a bit surprised at the half naked girl wearing a blinging pendant on the cover."

Boonsdale at NAMM '09
Well, we're back from sunny California after a great weekend
at the 2009 NAMM show. The struggling economy definitely
didn't impact this event, as it was a huge success for everybody
as well as Boonsdale Records.
Notable highlights include run-ins with Dave Mustaine,
Kerry King, Vinnie Appice, Dom Famularo, B Real, Matt from
Five Finger Death Punch, and of course hanging out with
Boonsdale artists J-Roc from Final Trigger and Pearl-endorsee
Jean-Jacques Tartaglia from Zeroscape at the Pearl Drums
booth.
We were more than proud to represent Toronto at this very important industry-only tradeshow, and can't wait to do
it again next year!
We'll try to have some pics up for you soon ; )

Boonsdale signs Rehab For Quitters!
Official announcement for immediate release:
Boonsdale Records signs Toronto punk/rock group Rehab
For Quitters, for the release of their new full-length
album "Ladies & Gentlemen, Rehab For Quitters".
We are proud to welcome them to the Boonsdale family and
look forward to one hell of a ride!
" Rehab For Quitters is the perfect antidote for
disillusioned punk rock fans who are tired of bubble-gum
pop cynically marketed as rebellion. They hit the scene
with a loud, fast and aggressive sound with plenty of hooks
and memorable sing-along choruses. Their stripped-down
guitar, bass and drum attack combines ferocity and technical
skill. Rock N Roll in its purest form with an in your face
punk edge!"
Be sure to attend the official CD Release Party happening
this Saturday, August 16 at The Reverb in Toronto. For
more info on the band, check out www.myspace.com/rehabforquitters

Boonsdale attends Rocklahoma 2008!
Boonsdale Records accepts a VIP invitation & flight
to Rocklahoma 2008, a 5-day rock festival happening in
Pryor, Oklahoma. The festival was an awesome time, with
3 stages, 122 bands, performances from Living Colour, Brett
Michaels, Sebastien Bach, Ratt, Dokken, Warrant, Queensryche
(and tons more) and a crazy storm that blew down both of
the side stages! What a riot...
We got to see a lot of great classic 80's acts (including
Lynch Mob and the return of Lita Ford!), as well as some
great up-and-coming bands, which was perfect to do some
scouting for new artists.
Definitely looking forward to the next one.. and hopefully
they'll have some real beer there next time. That Miller
Lite stuff just doesn't cut it..
